For the fourth consecutive year, City Terrace School has shown growth on the Academic Performance Index (API) with a 2011 score of 795.  A school’s API is a number that ranges from 200 to 1000 and is calculated from the results for each school’s students on the CST.  The state has set 800 as the API target for all schools to meet. The students will be aiming for that target or higher this spring. 

In addition there is the Annual Yearly Progress, ( AYP) federal report.  This report shows how well schools are meeting common standards of academic performance.  Required AYP targets increase yearly until 2013-2014 when all schools must have 100 percent of their students performing at or above the proficient level on the CST.  Unfortunately, City Terrace School did not make its AYP targets for all sub groups and will move into Program Improvement 2 PI status.  All parents were sent a letter explaining this information.

Congratulations to the students, parents, staff and volunteers who have worked this past year to ensure the academic success.  Together we can work harder to push to the 800 state targets and meet the AYP goals.
