Note from the Principal

Welcome back to school!  Here are a few beginning of the school year reminders.

We received some exciting news last month.  City Terrace School preliminary CST results are very positive and show growth in language arts, math and science. Our students’ academic achievement as demonstrated on the CST has continued a steady growth for the last six years. Students will be treated to a special assembly to celebrate our CST progress on the first day of school. I will keep you updated as we get more details on the test results.

Every Friday will be City Terrace School Spirit Day.  Students and teachers will be showing their school pride by wearing our school T-shirt.  PTA is selling City Terrace School spirit student T-shirts during the first week of school for $12.  There are various youth sizes available.  A PTA table will be set up near the flag pole after school for sales. Join in City Terrace School pride and spirit by wearing your school T-shirt on Fridays.

Student birthdays are celebrated the last fifteen minutes of the school day on the lunch benches. One small cupcake or cookie and juice box is recommended.  Birthdays are important, but do take away from precious instructional time.  Please keep it to a minimum and save the major celebration for the family at home.

We are very concern about childhood obesity and a healthy lifestyle.  Students are only permitted to eat healthy snacks during school.  Some healthy snacks are fruit, vegetables or whole grain crackers.  No sugar drinks.

School will be starting at 8:02 a.m. this year (4 minutes earlier) due to all Tuesdays will be Banked Tuesdays for teacher professional development.  Early dismissal is at 1:30 p.m. for all Tuesdays starting the first day of school.  Attendance and punctuality are important.  Instruction is not occurring if the student is not at school.
